Around 11 PM on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 I made this tweet:
"Music Making Idea: Design a cover and a tracklist for a "new record" and then write the songs you imagine hearing if you played it."
I decided to try it for myself and post it all online as it is happening. So as of now (9/3/2010 at 3:48 AM) this album is in the process of being made. I have this list of song titles that sound interesting but that haven't been written yet. I'm going to try to write and record them as I go and post them on this bandcamp site as I go too. It won't be finished until later so you might want to wait until I say it's done to download it. Until then you can listen to the tracks as I'm making it.
These are the titles I've come up with to turn into songs. Some will keep the titles and some might just end up as inspiration for the songs. One has already been written (You Were an Artist) so far (at the time of this typing). Here are the titles I've got to work with:
Super Conservative Adventures
You Were an Artist
The Switcheroo
Okay To Disconnect
Guilty People (Make the First Move)
Broken Down and Mythic
Cult Status
What's His Mutation?
Different Sentimental Moments of Life
That Girl is Bad
Harmonica
Nice Day (For a Pop Song)
Eye Contact Diversions
Dribble
The Key of You
Return of Goodbye
Okay... let's see how this works...
Edit: The last song written, recorded and added was Harmonica and it all happened around 3 PM on Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Thanks a lot! I'm done!!!
Edit 2: I made an edited, Final Cut version of the album and removed the songs that I didn't think were that great. The keepers were songs 1-11. I'm going to leave the remaining 5 songs here for posterity but they kind of suck in my opinion. I'll leave the dates and times of when they were written for the completionists out there but all you casual listeners are free to ignore that bit of information. Oh yeah, I also did a drawn version of the previous cover that was a photo of my knee. I liked the drawn version better. Thanks.... Jeff Grant 2-16-2011
